Very stable and solidThe higher swing weight provides a very stable response especially on return and volley. One can easily produce penetrating and heavy groundstrokes. The key is to have an early preparation and a smooth long swing.

Amazing racquet - depending on your specsThis is a really smooth classic feeling stick with the right amount of pop and spin. Wilson is iffy in quality control (apparently even more so with their Pro Labs series). It is because of this that I spent the extra money with TW to find a couple at the spec I am looking for. I would highly recommend you do the same if you are looking at this racquet as the swing weight being over specced can ruin the experience.

From RF97 to BladeI’ve used the RF97 Autograph racquet since it came out to the market, that racquet is my favorite racquet of all time, it gave me good control and tons of power sacrificing spin on the game. However, the years passed and I needed to switch racquets to a newer one which offered me the same swing weight (or close) and the control that I was used to have with my older racquet, therefore, that’s how with an exhausting analysis I decided to go with the BLADE PRO 98 V9 (16x19). After using this racquet for a few weeks, I can tell that it gives me: 1. Great control on the shots, I can place the ball wherever I want, same as the RF97 Autograph. However, it gives me better maneuverability at the net compared with the RF97 and when playing from the baseline helps me to create more angles and spaces against my opponent than the RF97 Autograph. 2. It gives me more spin compared with the RF97 Autograph, helping me on the consistency of my shots. 3. It has less power than the RF97 Autograph due to the control-spin base of this racquet, but for me as a player that I can easily generate power based on my gym training that’s not a problem. For me, due to the fact that Wilson is not producing the RF97 Autograph racquet anymore, this is a great choice if you are looking to update to more modern similar racquet.

ImpressedHave been a prior user of RF97 mostly for its stability. Bought the Blade Pro and customized weight and balance as close as possible to the RF (leather grip, handle weight). Under same string conditions the Blade Pro has been amazing. Much gentler on the arm, reasonably close stability and a degree of magnitude higher in forgiveness. I am a believer now why this frame has gained such a following.

Precision and controlDespite my racquet not being strung correctly, I was still able to appreciate the incredible precision and control it offered. Even under less-than-ideal conditions, the racquet's performance stood out, showcasing its ability to deliver sharp, accurate shots with consistency. This experience speaks to the overall quality of the racquet, as it maintained a high level of responsiveness and feel, making it a great choice for players who prioritize both control and finesse in their game.

Outstanding modern racquet with classic feelAfter years of using PS 90/95 and later RF97A I decided to demo newer racquets to see if I could find something a little more manageable, but still keep that classic feel. Of the demos, the Wilson racquets I tried are the new RF 01 Pro and this Blade Pro 98 (16x19). As much as I've loved the racquets Roger has endorsed over the years and wanted to like his new offering, I just couldn't feel that comfortable hitting with the RF 01 Pro. Maybe it's the different beam shape and feel, but I think it was mostly the stiffness I couldn't get over since I was looking for a less stiff racquet in general. As soon as I hit the first few shots with the Blade Pro I pretty much knew this would be my new racquet of choice and it has everything I was looking for. It has that classic box beam shape and allows you to feel very connected to the ball, but also has a very comfortable low stiffness feel. This is the first Blade I've ever tried so maybe the feel is obvious to most, but came as a welcome surprise to me at least. First thing I noticed aside from the awesome feel is the pop you can get if you time shots well - both groundstrokes and serves. It has just enough power if you have even decent technique, but maintains great accuracy and you always feel/know where your shots will go (something I always loved with my older Pro Staffs). Second thing I noticed after some rallies is the weight isn't nearly as "hefty" as I thought it would be based on the swingweight spec. I guess coming from an RF97A everything would feel lighter of course, but this one seems to have that perfect weight that I can keep up with. Although it has a more even balance, I still felt the racquet to be maneuverable and it feels solid on volleys too. Plenty of pop on serves as mentioned. Feels equally great on forehands and backhands, both topspin and slice. Basically, I kept hitting with it for a couple hours looking to find any faults and couldn't, at least not enough to keep me from switching to it. Only thing I'd probably try is tailweighting with tungsten putty to shift the balance to something like the more headlight racquets I'm used to. Lastly, the glossy emerald color looks absolutely sick in person. Overall, this is an awesome racquet that offers great stability, good weight of shot and spin, the classic Wilson feel while also being very comfortable, all in a modern head size that can keep up with today's game. I don't usually leave reviews, but I got so excited hitting with this thing that I had to leave one. Highly recommend at least a demo to see for yourself, especially if you're used to Wilson racquets and just want to try something new. It's impressive!

Spinny yet flexyThis Pro version isn't just a heavier version of the regular. It's a box beam and a much more open string pattern, with dense mains but very open crosses ("Mains skip: 7T, 9T, 7H, 9H" means the crosses are at 7, not 8 as they are in the usual Blade; they cross 12 strings initially, not 14). The result is very easy access to spin, like the Pro Staff 97 but in a larger head size. Very classic, very connected feel. The racquet is low powered in terms of the frame, so the pros add weight. The low power of the frame and the box beam flex means great directional control. The result is a racquet that won't help you with power but goes EXACTLY where you point it: "A perfect racquet for a perfect player." Not for intermediates but experts should give it a try. I stopped using it because I got older and weaker and need a boost, but if I were younger, I'd keep using it.

Hefty weight provides unparalleled plow-thruMy racquet of choice is the Prestige Tour but I couldn't resist purchasing a used Wilson Pro Lab Blade 16x19 based on its high swingweight (heavier than standard Blade). The two racquets are so similar in terms of control and feel. The Blade has slightly longer dwell time which I find helpful when re-directing shots. The Blade is also sufficiently under-powered so I can really swing freely and not worry about the ball sailing on me. Volleys are rock solid due to the heft. I enjoy both racquets and seamlessly use them interchangeably. I highly recommend it for advanced players.

AwesomeI am an RF 97 user and demoed the Blade 98 16x19, Blade 100 and Blade Pro 16x19. The Blade 100 is awesome and likely what I will buy for ease of use, but the Blade Pro was so great, I wish I could have that instead of my RF 97 sticks. The Blade Pro has all the amazing feel of the RF 97 in a way easier to use package, I might pick it up in addition to the 100.
