Updated with a more stable construction for 2024

Introducing the Blade 100 v9! In addition to being slightly more powerful and forgiving than the Blade 98 16x19, this 2024 update delivers impressive command over the ball. It also packs a flexible 60-RA beam, giving it arm-friendly comfort and outstanding ball feedback. With its 16x19 string pattern, spin comes easy, and the speedy sub-325 swingweight makes it great for hitting shots on the run or reacting quickly at net. Like its predecessor, this update incorporates Direct Connect Technology, fusing the butt cap directly to the carbon fiber handle for increased stability. It also retains Wilson's FortyFive layup technology, which increases lateral flexibility to complement the explosive vertical mechanics of the modern game (think heavy ball). New for 2024 is StableFeel technology, which introduces a slightly firmer layup for greater stability and easier access to power. Experienced ball strikers will appreciate the new Clip & Go grommet system, which not only locks down the bumper, but also makes for easier grommet replacement. Ultimately, with minor tweaks to the feel and response the Blade 100 continues to be a solid option for those who want a maneuverable player's racquet with controllable power and great feel.

Yes, a gemOrdered 2 racquets to demo, this and the 98 16x19 v9 Blade... don't think I'm going to even try the 98 after using this! It came string at 57 pounds which is tight for me usually but now I'm re-thinking my tensions. It's low-medium powered which is usually a problem because the racquet's power gets in the way. But with this racquet, it doesn't seem to. Maybe because the 100 sq. in. headsize helps by giving more room for the racquet's power to be absorbed before getting in the way, not sure. But, because the racquet does have some power, it means I don't have to get the power from looser strings and can turn up the tension to get more control. I can't stand poly strings, so with this racquet, I can use NXT 16, up the tension, and have a good amount of power from the racquet, and control from the tension. Gives the bite when I need it, power when I need it, and both when I need it... really nice! As far as strokes, yes, it does everything well.

The Wilson Blade rocks!I purchased the Wilson Blade for two experienced tennis players over the holidays. They both LOVED IT!!! Not only do they love it, multiple of their tennis friends have tried the racquet out, and now they are going to change over to it! No wonder it is the most popular racquet used on both the men’s and women’s professional tennis tours!! Doesn’t hurt the arm, provides both control and power. I highly recommend it!!!

Solid playing, arm friendly racquetI am pleased with this racquet so far. It replaces my old ProKennex Ki5 315, now over ten years old. This racquet is much lighter, has about the same flex as the shaft, but is more firm and solid feeling in the hoop. I added four grams of weight to the hoop and 8 grams to the butt cap, which gives the racquet the head light balance that I like, a little more heft and a swing weight of around 330. I feel like I get a little more pop on the ball on groundstrokes and serve, but still with reasonable control.

Better racquet second time aroundI initially ordered a Wilson Balde 100 strung with synthetic string at 55 pounds. The racquet was okay but the stringing was horrible. I returned the racquet, and had to pay a fee because I ahd removed the grip's plastic covering. I reordered a Wilson Blade 104, unstrung. I had my gym string it with Sensation 16 at 55 pounds. This combination is perfect. I like the weight and head size of this racquet. Bottom line - great racquet; disappointing stringing.

Wilson Blade V9 100This racquet is good. She has a good serve, a forehand.. BUT.. I have a one-handed backhand.. this strike has difficulties.. there is no integrity of the racquet.. maybe it's the strings.. The main problem of the racquet is the uncontrolled power (it's like a trampoline).. A drop short is difficult

Excellent All Court PlayabilityHeld off reviewing until I had a decent body of play behind me which I now have (40+ hours over approx 3 months) and happy to report the Blade 100 gets two thumbs up from me. Having come from a 98 with a SW of over 330 this is a welcome (and needed!) change with loads of maneuverability without sacrificing stability. For me this frame surprised on both serve and volleys. The easy power on serve has been an unexpected bonus while the stability previously mentioned makes volleying with accuracy a feature while maintaining comfort even on off-centre hits. Added weight into handle to get static weight up to just over 330 grams and moving between Hyper-G Soft and Restring Hybrid with both set ups at 50 pounds. Worth a demo if you’re looking for a frame that’s not all chips in on power or control. And if you don’t know what you’re after it’s still worth testing as a point of reference at the very least.

Blade superiority gangNo matter how many racquet brands I try I always find myself going back to Wilson. Ever since my first stick using the Wilson nCode nFury when I was 11, all the way to the six.One series, the brand has always felt right at home in my hand. The Blade has that same Wilson magic where no matter how you hit the ball it always seems to drop in. This racquet feels like a pillow, so plush with surgical precision and God-like maneuverability, it swings like a 98 square inch head with 100 square inch forgiveness. It allows me to hit my targets and literally decide with confidence where I want the ball to go. I honestly cannot name a single thing that this racquet does badly. I will say that compared to most frames you do need to take larger cuts at the ball and generate your own power, since it is a control frame at the end of the day. I also felt that stock weight the hoop was a bit light, so I wound up adding 2 grams of lead tape at 3, 2 grams at 9, and 1 gram at 12 (5 grams total). If you’re the type of player that likes to take charge of a point and swing freely with confidence, you really don’t have to look any further. I always say, if you’re not sure what to get, get the Blade and call it a day.

More stiff than 60I bought two because the stiff and very solid incredible racquet. I love it. I came from Prince Phantom 100x 305, anemic but great in all aspects so I use polys at 42/44. In the Blade I have the polys at 48/50, so I start to have an elbow pain. Then I try poly/gut at 52/53. Now I have a terrible pain in elbow. And even it’s a great and comfort racquet, as you have to increase the tension course it’s very powerful. You can get pains! But if you never have problems with elbow go high in tension, and enjoy this incredible racquet.

Great tweener for getting-older bangersI am a former touring junior who's now 48, meaning I still can ballstrike well but at slower swing speeds than before and in need of more forgiveness on running shots. My favored 98 head sizes were doing me no favors even if I liked their control profile. This is the first 100 that still keeps the DNA of its 98 progenitor as a control-first racquet but with more pop, spin of a 16x19, and forgiveness - perfect for those of us who can't handle the power of an Ezone 100, Boom MP, or Pure Drive. (and IMHO, better than the Yonex Percept 100 and Pure Strike 100 that are this stick's spiritual siblings). Highly recommend!

My new racquet of choiceLong time user of the RF97 v13 but started to develop tennis elbow so decided to try something new which brought me to the Blade 100. No longer experiencing any elbow pain and have been loving this racquet from every aspect so far. Just pull the trigger, you won't regret it.

Excellent.I love the feel of this racquet. As a rule, I won't say "perfect," but it is easily the best I have ever played with. Solid, but not heavy. Not stiff, or soft. Plenty of power for groundstrokes and serves. Well done, Wilson!

Best decision to change to Wilson Blade 100I formerly played the Babolat Pure Drive, which I truly enjoyed. As my game matured, I was looking for more control, more spin and a larger sweet spot. The Wilson Blade 100 v9 has delivered in all areas. It is 6 ounces lighter with a smaller grip. My ability to control my shots has improved so much that my tennis mates have voiced that my new racquet should be illegal. HA!
