Overview

Introducing the TF40 305 (16x19)! With this racquet, Tecnifibre introduces a new model to the TF40 family. Unlike the original TF40 305 (launched in 2019), this racquet packs a modern 16x19 string pattern, giving it easier access to spin along with a slightly higher launch angle for easier depth. It also has the phenomenal control, pocketing and feel of the first generation TF40s. Although this model is lighter than the TF40 315 (16x19), it packs a higher swingweight (321-RDC), making it slightly better at plowing through the ball or redirecting higher levels of pace. That said, it still has enough speed for whipping up heavy spin, hitting shots on the run or reacting quickly at net. Technologies include a stable RS Sharp beam along with Dynacore XTC for extra touch, dwell time and pocketing. This racquet also has Foam Inside for a more solid feel at impact. Ultimately, with its impressive combination of spin, precision and speed, this is a great option for intermediate and advanced ball strikers. The great feel at impact is a nice bonus.

5.0 Player - Outstanding Racquet50-year-old 5.0 player with a one-handed backhand. Switched from an old Wilson KBlade. Tried a dozen racquets before settling on the TF40 -- Blade, VCore, Radical, Percept, EZone, Speed, etc. Knew this was the one within minutes of trying it. Not too head light but easy to whip up spin. Not too stiff, not too flexible. Fast through the air and maneuverable, but stable at impact. Easy to serve with. Much, much easier to hit topspin with my one-hander than with my old KBlade, although the paper specs are extremely similar in terms of balance, weight, stiffness, etc. At the same time, slice comes naturally. Very happy I switched. The old model and the new model as of this writing (Feb 10, 2025) are identical but for the paint job, so feel free to pay 50% less for the old model. I tried them both, detected no difference.

Hate it or Love it... It dependsI switched from Head Extreme modified. I am a former pro player. Now playing since 37 seven years. The good of this racquet is it is very arm friendly. If you have good technique to hit the sweet spot with a good kinetics most times, the racquet is a marvel. Well. If you struggle to do so. You may find yourself struggling with the racquet. However, this is a very rewarding struggle. This pushes you to play much better, relying your game on modern tennis foundation.

Really goodThis was very comfortable for a RA of 64. I suppose the foam filling does make a big difference. Nice blend of old and new school!

It's an excellent racquetI am 48 years old, and I played tennis since I was a child, but when I entered university, I stopped playing. Now, I have been playing again for a year, starting with the Babolat Pure Drive 300 grams, but it caused me tennis elbow. I bought the Boom MP 2022, and the problem persisted, so I got the TF40 305 grams. It is a very good racquet that helps me with all strokes, especially the serve; it is very stable. But it is a racquet with a swingweight of 321, and currently, I don't have the ability to handle it for more than one hour of constant play since I don't have the arm strength to move it. I discovered that for now, I can only use racquets with a swingweight of less than 315 and a weight of 300 grams; the TF40 305 is very safe for tennis elbow, in addition to having a good feel when playing with it. For now, I'm going to try the Volkl V-Cell 8 300, which has a lower weight and lower swingweight, to see how it goes for me.

Great racquetI bought this on a whim at a Black Friday sale, and boy has it delivered. Better power and plow through than with my Wilson Clash, and really good control. Solid at the net. Have it strung with synthetic gut at 53 but will play around with other string combos.

Great control racquetThis is a super comfortable racquet and gives great control. The 16x19 pattern gives nice spin potential, and is one of the only racquets that gives me confidence to take a full rip at the ball when playing where I live at 9,300 feet. It's been a game-changer for me!

Does the jobOverall racquet feels good except on few shots when you don't exactly middle it. Maneuverability is good. Overheads felt easy to hit. No pressure on arm while hitting big shots. Few down sides are somewhat flatter shots and feels too much power at the center only. Serves are not so penetrative.

Good control and spinGood control and spin. Will have to generate your own power. As far as the foam inside goes, not sure how much that helps.

Only for professionalsThe racquet I had before was a Head Boom MP 2022 (295 grams), which caused me tennis elbow. I started researching which racquets could help avoid this issue, and I came across the TF40 305, but it's a racquet that requires you to be almost professional to handle it. Since after 40 minutes of play, my arm can't move it anymore, but it does help a lot with the serve, although it's difficult to maneuver at the net. The tension I used on both racquets is 44 pounds and the speed of my serve is 98 mph.

A modern classicThis is a solid option for a modern player's racquet. I'm transitioning from the Dunlop CX Tour 16x19 (95in) and wanted more forgiveness. The Dunlop is a great racquet, but it requires a static weight of 345 grams plus before it comes to life, and then I can only swing it comfortably for one hour, and off-center hits are punishing. The TF40 is not a scalpel like the Dunlop, but it does most of the things I want it to do. There's great directional control, easy access to angles and drop shots, easy depth, and it's solid from all parts of the court. Current strung specs: 340 grams / 32.5cm (6 points) / 330 SW (measured w/ Briffidi) Customizations included in the above: leather grip and two grams in the handle plus one gram at 3 and 9. The racquets were too head heavy in stock form so adding weight in the handle helped lower the balance for more maneuverability and it helped with block shots and volleys. String setup: Tecnifibre Biphase (mains), Kirschbaum Super Smash Orange and Luxilon ALU power (crosses) Quality: Specs were quite similar, so matching two racquets was easy. There was a hole in the palette on the third racquet, looks like a bubble was formed in the heating process then it popped. I'm returning that one. Feel: the foam-filled approach to dampening is far better feeling than things like vibration dampening mesh on Yonex. It's not the pure and crisp feel of 100% graphite like the Blade Pro, but the ball doesn't get lost on the string bed either. Control: When hit in the center, the control is mostly point and shoot. When I hit outside the center, there isn't a big penalty; shots don't fly, they just don't hit the exact target. Spin: good access and allows for a heavy ball with the high SW. Speed: Mid-court and scramble shots are a little more sluggish than the speedy Dunlop, but I'm getting a feel for it. I do wish the racquet flew through the air more quickly, especially when whipping up forehands on the run. Blocks, backhand slice & volleys: Really solid after customized. The racquet doesn't get pushed around. 1HBH topspin: A little sluggish at my current spec. I did try more weight in the handle to make it 8 points HL and it played much better, but it was a little heavy after one hour, so I had to dial back the weight. I've been preferring a 2HBH these days anyway. 2HBH: Very good control and spin. Forehands: Excellent depth, spin, and heavy shots. Scrambling: Squash shots and defensive lobs have been very good. It's easy to put the ball where you want when on the run. Me: 5.0 counter-puncher Overall, I've been enjoying this racquet. I demoed against the Blade 98 16x19, Yonex Vcore 98, Head Speed MP, Yonex Percept 97/100D, RF 01, and Blade Pro 16x19. The Tecnifibre and Blade Pro were my favorites, and I pulled the trigger on this one, but I may pick up a Blade Pro as well. :)

The TF40 is the new standard. If you're familiar with a few generations of the Blade, you've seen it go from stiff to soft, high swingweight to low, and employ all sorts of dampening technology, all in efforts to provide a lighter swinging yet sufficiently powerful racquet that won't kill your arm. Well, Tecnifibre has delivered on that task the tried and true way. This foam-filled 98 square inch racquet has a stiff layup that provides power and a crisp feel, and is tempered with foam injected into the tubes. For me, this is the best feeling, modern racquet I have played with. Because this racquet provides some crispness, it compliments the latest generation of more muted and slick spin-oriented polyesters out there quite well. I now have a quiver of 3 to take into competitive matches and tournaments, and haven't looked back. Caveats: Depending on the specifications you receive, you may need to add a little weight to help with stability and plow through. If you prefer a less traditional balance, and/or prefer a more head-heavy racquet, consider the TFight ISO 305, but that racquet plays a bit stiffer as well. If that person is you, I would also suggest the Radical MP, Ezone 98, and the Pure Aero 98.

Solid all-around racquet for 3.5+High quality and solid racquet that could probably suit any player 3.5 or above with the right sting setup and customization. A control racquet but with great power and spin potential. I would compare it to the Wilson Blade 16x19, but with a little more power, spin, and stability. The Blade has a little more feel and ball pocketing, though. Also comfortable as long as you use proper technique (hit the ball in front, engage legs and core).

MagicalAfter demoing and playing dozens of racquets, my playing partner and I each ended up buying the TF 40 305, 16x19. Nothing else "clicks" quite the same way. Terrific control and terrific spin, with plenty of power for an advanced player (who is presumably generating their own power). I've let other people borrow my racquet as well, and so far, everyone loves it.

Good but a tad overratedAfter so much hype, I had to try this thing. This racquet defines "good at everything, great at nothing." It performed almost identically to the Head Extreme Tour that I hit with two summers ago. And that's not a negative as the Extreme Tour is a good frame. Coming from the Prince Phantom ultra flexible racquets, I expected a 64 flex with a much thicker beam and foam-filled construction to be way more solid. I even added some weight and still didn't find the stability I did with the Phantom's. Did hit better then in the second half of the session so I'll give this one another whirl over the weekend. But so far, nothing earth-shattering to report and planning to go back to the Phantom as of now.

Comfortable and solidI took a circuitous route to this racquet that ran through the Head Gravity Pro, Tecnifibre T-Fight 315, Pure Strike 16x19 and the TF40 315. For me, the TF40 305 (16x19) was easy on my arm, had a generous sweet spot and held up well against heavier hitters. I also didn't feel that the racket was particularly underpowered (and I am far from being any sort of advanced player). In its stock form, it felt a little unstable to me, but after adding 4gs of lead tape to the handle (underneath the overgrip) it has been really solid.

Best Tecnifibre for feelBy far, this is the best feeling racquet of the TF line and certainly one of the best feeling racquet of all racquet brands out there. The downside is that this racquet is quite under-powered so you have to have good technique and hit the sweet spot. I think it may feel a little better than my 1st gen Dunlop CX200 Tour 16x19, but for now I'm sticking to the Dunlop as my go to racquet. I'll certainly continue to play this racquet as I personally like to play many different types of racquets in my collection.

Best frame I have hit withI played with a Pure Drive 3 years prior and I liked it a lot. I then switched to the old Tfight 300 xtc which was a very solid frame. I then switched to the Tfight 300 RS which was even better in my opinion than the xtc as it was stiffer and offered more control. 3 months ago, I switched the the new TF40 305 16 19 looking for more control and precision, after trying the Ezone, Solinco Whiteout, Pure Strike, and Blade 16x19. It was by far the best out of any of these racquets, and much better in my opinion than the 18x20 version in terms of feeling. I have been playing the best tennis of my life and I couldn’t be happier.

A fantastic racquetI had been playing with the original version of the TF40 305 18x20 for about a year. I really liked the racquet with great control and great feel, but I had a hard time generating spin. This was mostly fixed by switching to a poly string (Hyper-G soft at 45 lbs), but I was starting to feel tenderness in my arm and wrist. I then switched to this newer version, the TF40 305 16x19, and have been loving it. It still has a similar amount of control as the 18x20 frame, but it is much easier to generate spin and has a bit more power. The lighter swing weight of the 16x19 also enables me to generate more swing speed. Overall my serves, forehand shots, volleys, and slices have all improved with this TF40 305 16x19 frame. The one weakness is I feel like the lower swing weight has slightly diminished the plow-through of my backhand. However, I have only been using the racquet for about a month so I am still adjusting my swing. Overall, I have been extremely happy with this racquet, with tons of control, a great feel, and now the ability to generate topspin and slices. I'm a 4.0 player in my mid-40s and have been stringing it with Tecnifibre Triax at 52 lbs.

A Modern Classic!I switched to this from a Head IG Radical Pro, and have enjoyed it greatly so far. I love that Radical to bits, but I was looking for something that could maintain that great blend of a classic feel while giving enough pop for a modern topspin-based baseline game, while being a tad more forgiving than the Radical. This racquet fits that very well. I do give up a tiny bit of precision compared with the Radical, however I think its worth the trade-off for being easier to use. Added a leather grip and a little bit of lead at 12 to bring the swingweight closer to the 18m, which makes this a very well-rounded and balanced setup.

replacement of donnay pro oneAfter getting back into tennis from my high school playing days (30yrs ago!) - I found this racquet to be the best feel for replacing my old Agassi Donnay Pro One. I still loved my Pro One but the head/grommets were deteriorating and this racquet has the best feel for me.

Great RacquetGreat, flexible frame thats easy on the arm and great from the back or up at net with a plush and stable contact. You do need to bring your own power and fast racquet head speed to get the most out of it but it's not-too demanding weight helps with this. Also string low - 50 pounds or around there, this seems to work best with the racquet, keeps the sweet spot large and gives a little boost of controllable power and great ball pocketing. If you're not afraid to swing big and attack the ball, this frame will reward you!

Great racquetTecnifibre did a great job with this update. Really liked the last version, but like this one even more. Less muted with a more direct feel. The 16x19 still provides great directional control, while giving a bit of added spin. Will continue to play with this one.

Great follow upLove the 2nd Gen here of the TF40 305 line -- the 16x19 open pattern makes the frame that much better. Great feel and control and more than enough pop and spin. The addition of foam into the frame gives it a great / solid feel at impact and a great response.

UncomfortableAdmittedly, I bought this without demoing it first, I went off the specs and the playtester reviews. Big mistake and I own it because you should always try before you buy. This frame is extremely low powered even for a control racquet. Off-center hits feel jarring and the racquet feels unstable. It feels unusually stiff considering it's low RA rating and anything hit outside the sweet spot the ball just loses tremendous power. I can't understand how this racquet playtested so highly. Maybe one of the worst racquets I've hit with in recent memory. I strung it with Ice Code 17g at 52 lbs and I've considered changing the string set-up, but I'm so disappointed with the racquet itself that I think I would rather just sell it.
