This unique oversize player's racquet combines impressive speed and spin with a surprising level of precision

Introducing the second generation of the Phantom 107G! Like the first generation, this racquet plays like a faster, more user-friendly version of the iconic Prince Original Graphite OS. Boasting a speedy 320-RDC swingweight, the Phantom 107G explodes through contact, making it easy to whip up spin from the backcourt or react quickly at net. It also features a buttery 17.5mm shaft, giving it outstanding ball feedback. Technologies include Prince's Anti-Torque System, which is located at 10 & 2 in the head and combines Textreme with Zylon, a synthetic polymer added in 2024 to further enhance stability without compromising maneuverability. Prince also combines Zylon and Textreme in the shaft to further enhance stability and optimize feel. Other features include Prince's iconic crossbar (for stability) along with a CTS Beam construction, which features an ultra thin shaft for feel along with thicker cross sections in the head for stability and power.  Ultimately, with the Phantom 107G, Prince has put the surgical control and sublime feel of the Phantom series into a very forgiving head size. The fact that it's fast enough for the modern game is a nice bonus.

Nice racquet but…I really like this racquet but it seems like the grip size I got 4 3/8 is slightly bigger than my other racquets at the same size 4 3/8. Not a super big deal but if I was to get another one I would get a 4 1/4 and put an over grip on it .

The Swiss Army knife of racquets! This racquet is amazing! It is incredibly versatile and well suited to a variety of playing styles. Baseliner? … check. Counterpuncher? … check. The dreaded pusher? … check. Serve and volley? … check. Play singles and doubles? … check and check! Try it! I am a competitive 65+ singles and doubles player playing in 18+, 40+ and up leagues and tournaments.

Follow up reviewI’ve had my 107G for about a month now and can confirm that it really is an oversized player’s racket. Works well with my one-handed backhand, which is my most consistent shot - both topspin and slice. I’m still adapting, but have been able to hit all my shots well. I have it strung with Volkl Cyclone 17 at 50 pounds. I really enjoy playing with it and have no complaints. One note though: My frame was labeled 4 1/4 on both the bit cap and the plastic wrap around the grip it was shipped with - but the grip measured 4 3/8. I customize my own rackets and was able to bring it to my spec by replacing the original grip with over grips and adding tungsten underneath the butt cap. I didn’t mind doing this as I like the sharper angles on the handle, and I presume this was a factory error, since corrected.

What I was looking for - age adjustmentI am 71 years old but still capable of handling the singles side in Canadian doubles. I’ve played many different racquets over the last 60 years, but am primarily a Wilson Pro Staff guy. I currently have a Pro Staff 97 v14, which I love - BUT as my eyesight becomes less acute and hand-eye slows, I find myself missing the sweet spot too often, resulting in missed shots and some wrist soreness. I have never liked the feel of the oversize racquets I’ve tried before, but after demoing the Phantom 107G 2024, I think it’s a frame I can work with. It is very comfortable but still has a connected feel. Initially, I was hitting a bit long, especially my serves, but can correct that with spin and a slightly more closed racquet face. Power is not massive, but it’s sufficient. Control is also good enough. I am able to effectively handle the shots of my younger and more powerful opponents. Overall, my Pro Staff has more top end potential in all areas, except maybe spin, but given the reality of my current abilities, I win more points with the 107G. The thin beam and big sweet-spot make a difference with fewer mishits. I have ordered one and look forward to dialing in my game with it for another 20 years of tennis!

Super Comfortable FeelI was impressed by the comfort and the feel of this racquet. I love the "old-school" thin beam look enhanced with modern technology. If you'd like to learn more about my experience with this racquet, here's a playtest and review I did on my YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/MCnHZpwHSBE
