This speedy and spin-friendly racquet gets updated with a softer feel for 2023

Dunlop adds another chapter to the heaviest model of the FX family. Named the FX 500 Tour, this stick rewards aggressive players a seductive combination of power, spin and precision. In addition to having the thinnest beam in the FX family, the 500 Tour packs a compact 98 square inch head. As a result it has more control and feel than other members of the FX family but it still packs enough pop for finishing points. For 2023 the FX 500 Tour gets a more flexible beam, giving it a softer, more arm-friendly response than the previous generation. Dunlop has also tweaked the grommet system to help the string bed return greater energy to the ball (think power). As with the previous generation, the FX 500 Tour benefits from Sonic Core w/Infinergy, which is added to the upper hoop to soften the feel of impact. Additional features include a Power Boost Frame Geometry which combines a speedy aerodynamic profile with a wider throat for stability. Ultimately, the FX 500 Tour is a great option for the experienced player who wants a fast and spin-friendly racquet that rewards full cuts with impressive accuracy. The boost in flexibility and comfort is a nice bonus.

Great racquetGreat racquet from the Dunlop line a little more forgiving when playing, try tensions around 45-50 to improve spin

Good for spin nothing elseDemoed this with TW, using a poly string. My game is a 4.0 with a strong baseline, serve and unrefined net presence. Played five games and my arm was sore trying to generate any type of purchase and power. It has a beautiful feel on the slice and ball comes up with spite, so may be helpful for these type of players. Volleys were muted and overheads were shorter than my other racquets.

My previous review hereMy previous review here is just for my personal thought. It’s a great racquet in the end! It was not part of a promotion or anything. Dunlop or Tennis Warehouse did not pay me a dime or even they do not know anything about me!

Playing like Wilson Blade 98 V9It feels great and inspired me to play more tennis. 9 points unstrung balance is wonderful! Precision and control like Wilson Blade 98 V9 plus more power. One of most powerful racquet for this head size at a 98. Not stiff at all. Serve, top spin, volley, ground stroke are very good and QC is on point, no complaints here. Great looking and best for the price.

Solid All Around Versatile RacquetThe Dunlop FX 500 Tour v2 is an all around versatile racquet. Me a 4.0/4.5 player previously playing with Dunlop FX 500 Tour v1 (little too stiff) and Yonex VCore Pro 97 (too soft) with full multi. Looking for a thin beam 98 with stiffness in between. V2 fits the bill. Bought two of them, quality control was interesting, did not use matching service. Regarding the unstrung weight, one was right on spec, the other was 10 grams over spec. Added some tungsten to the right on spec racquet to true-up to the over spec racquet strung weight of 328g. Played 18 hours across both. I serve and volley in doubles. Love this, I am able to spot serve at will with various spin serves. More importantly, it gives me the desired power on serves. In singles as a baseline grinder, love the feel and flex on groundstrokes. On my OHBH wing, I can hit down the line aggressively again. I really enjoy the weight and head light racquet, yet quick and maneuverable. On the FH wing, I can hit my spinney FH with good depth. Felt good and stable enough for me on volleys and return of serves. Strung both with full multi and hybrid setups at 52/50. Solid all arounder. Great value. From a Dunlop model comparison, way better feel and flex than the FX 500 Tour v1 and way more power than the CX 200 2021 version.

Best RacquetBest racquet I have ever hit with. Great control and power on both serve and return. Not too light but not too heavy. Just an all-around great racquet.

Dunlop FX 500 TourThis racquet looks like a Babolat but is softer, has more feel, and more spin. The ball comes out of the stringbed fast. I will recommend it with a softer poly or a hybrid. It swings way faster than a Babolat. I have a one-handed backhand, and it helps a lot on my backhand to swing fast and hit it hard. Racquet is way better also than any Yonex 98, Wilson 98, or Babolat... This racquet has power. You will get more power because it also swings fast... This racquet is underrated... I saw that ATP Tour and ITF Pros use it. It is becoming more popular...

Worthy competitor to the Whiteout, PD98, PS97This racquet is a must-demo if you are considering the Whiteout 305, Pure Drive 98, or even the 2023 Pro Staff 97. It has the same open string pattern and combination of stiffness, spin, and feel. To me the difference is the Whiteout is more crisp, the Pro Staff is more precise and heavy, and the Dunlop is more forgiving. All of them are great rackets for serving and attacking. All of them can produce massive spin. This Dunlop is probably the best if you spend most of the time at the baseline, the Whiteout is for all-courters, and the Pro Staff is for looking to get to the net whenever you can.
