Babolat adds another chapter to one of the game's most iconic racquets

With its "best of class" combination of speed, spin and power, the Pure Aero is one of the most popular and versatile racquets ever made. At 11.2 ounces strung and boasting a zippy sub-325 swingweight, this stick delivers easy acceleration from the baseline and quick handling at net. It also possesses the kind of spin-friendly precision and raw power that is dangerous in the hands of aggressive players. For 2022, in addition to a more arm-friendly flex point, Babolat adds comfort with NF² Technology, which uses flax inserts in the handle and upper hoop to soften ball impact. Babolat also updates its FSI Spin technology with slightly tighter string spacing. The result is greater control (and confidence) when maximizing stroke speed in the service of power and spin. Intermediate and advanced players looking for a speedy spin-monster with surgical targeting will love this update.

Swingweight updated on 2.28.25 based on additional samples measured

Great for singlesThis racquet is exceptionally lightweight while also providing enough power for you to return good shots in a tight singles match. Allows you to easily put lots of spin on the ball, and makes it easy to place the ball too. Great all around racquet. Only minor flaws are that it is not a great power racquet. Get the Pure Drive if you want that. Otherwise this one is better.

My teenage loves itThis racquet was initially recommended by the coach. When I called the representative, I was told that this racquet might be too much for a 14 years old kid. I finally decided to purchase this version. So far the kid loves it. I plan to buy one backup racquet but will probably consider a different model.

Awesome RacquetAs an intermediate player I was looking for a replacement racquet that combined power and top spin. I am a hard hitter and wanted a lighter racquet that allowed me to hit top spin with control. This racquet met all my expectations.

Preferred over the 98...As a 3.5 player, I prefer this racquet over the 98 due to sweet spot size. If I improve to a 4.0 in a few years time I will reconsider the 98 again. Using natural gut due to arm issues, it is a smooth, comfortable racquet. Great control and balance.

Babolat Pure Aero 2023The Babolat Pure Aero 2023 has a tighter string pattern than previous models. It still has plenty of power, a little less spin, but the added control with the tighter string pattern is a welcome addition. Whatever you give up in terms of groundstroke spin, you pick up with benefit of better control with your volleys. I highly recommend the racquet.

Unlocked spin in my gameThe open string bed gives me a ton of spin for my game. I was able to add a ton of slice onto my serve as well.

Comfort and feelLong time Pure Aero user. This has been the best improvement among the last three iterations. The enhancements in comfort and control didn't disappoint.

Favorite racquetI'm a new player who has been demoing various racquets including the Clash 100, Burn 100, Head Extreme Tour, Vcore 100, and the Pure Drive. The Pure Aero seems to be the most comfortable for me. I noticed that it's not as powerful as the Vcore but the hit feels pretty light for me. My backhand seems more stable during practice.

Babolat Pure Aero is a joy to play withMy new Babolat Pure Aero strung with RPM Blast 17 has been a "blast" to play with in singles and doubles. It feels a little heavier than my older Pure Aero (La Decima), but I love the way the ball feels off of this new frame. I think the sweet spot is a little bigger than prior because my first serve percentage is up, and forehand/backhand mishits are down. Bravo to Babolat for improving upon an already great design.

2023 Pure AeroPlayed head racquets for years and made a switch over to a Wilson blade which was what I thought a very solid all around racquet until I was able to use one my playing partners new Pure Aero. Two outings in a row and I made the switch no questions asked and could not be happier. I play to a 3.5/4.0 and there is nothing this racquet cannot do for my game, I would not hesitate to give it a go.

A step backAfter playing with this frame, I believe Babolat has taken a giant step backward. Serves lacked power, ground strokes were average at best. When I hit the ball the frame felt like plastic. Volleys lacked depth, nothing positive to say about this frame. Even the color is poor.

Good performer but horrendous for arm safetyI'm a 4.5 level player. I switched to this Pure Aero model late last year from my Head Graphene Speed MP. After some practice I immediately won 2 clay court tournaments. I experienced some shoulder and elbow issues but I chalked it down to new racquets growing pains. This was not so! I workout in the gym regularly to maintain my strength and performance level on the tennis court. But nothing I did seemed to help. My pain got worse and worse and finally it got so bad that I had to stop playing entirely. Now I have to take almost 2 months off for completely recovery. My physio said that he's glad I stopped when I did before I damaged my arm permanently. I never noticed this issue with my previous Head stick. The Pure Aero is definitely not very good for your arm health. Also, it is very difficult to hit consistent flat shots with this stick, so rallies get longer and longer increasing the pressure on your arm. I would definitely not recommend this stick to anyone if you value your health.

Versatile and consistent frameThis frame is very good as a base frame (meaning you can add lead and it won't behave weirdly or break easily) and is really good in stock form. The best setup for me that I have found is putting 6 grams on the lower portion of the handle, and stringing with RPM Rough 15L at 51lbs (mains) and 47lbs (crosses). Putting lead on the lower portion of the grip might cause elbow problems because of increased stress caused by the whiplash effect, but it is best for lowering the balance and you can avoid tennis elbow by stretching out your forearm before and after playing. I highly recommend for any level, beginner to advanced.

Best Racquet! I own over 10 racquets and there's something amazing about this model. I also have the 2016 Aero Pro and think it's a huge upgrade.

Spin plus Plow thru equals FUNI've resisted switching from a control racquet (Blade, VCore, Prestige, etc) but I finally gave this one a serious try and I feel like I'm cheating on the court. I can hit any shot including stretch volleys and backhand overheads. This version Aero seems to be a bit more precise than others I have tried, but all the spin you could ever need is still there. I do have very good technique so no arm issues, but i see how you could get lazy and flick the racquet instead of properly swinging which might cause problems. Some say it is a two handed BH racquet; not so I say. My one hander is solid as ever; good technique is all you need and this racquet will reward you. It is truly a modern game racquet and if you want to hit like the Rune's and Alcaraz you need their sticks to do it. The 98 looks interesting but I'm not even going to try it I'm so pleased with the 100. If you can't beat em, join em.

Better tools means better playI usually don't submit reviews but I am experiencing extreme improvement since purchasing my Pure Aero 2023. Sad to say I haven't upgraded since feeling comfortable with my Maria Sharapova endorsed Prince O... yep... that's an old racquet but it worked. I thought my talent decline, though, was due to being in my mid 50s. For purposes of helping other buyers choose I want to say that I was advised by several of my club Pros and team members not to pursue the Babolat rackets because of their tendency to affect one's elbow. As one who was fighting elbow and shoulder pain in 2022, I can tell you this racquet eliminated all of that. Strung to 56 lbs with a hybrid string formation, I am a beast at the Baseline again with incredible top spin. And for those that read this racquet will reduce effective net play, I beg to differ. I was already a very good net player and this racket has improved that element of my game. In other words if you are wondering what new weapon to put in your bag, I highly recommend this Pure Aero 2023. Getting it from Tennis Warehouse efficiently and at a great price was just an added bonus. - Vinny

Nice!I had been out of the game for 30 years and just back into playing. Having no knowledge of the current tech, I found the Pure Aero a pure delight and got me excited to get back into the game. I strung mine with the Babolat RPM Hurricane at 55 and the accuracy is near spot on. This racquet makes it a lot easier.

Excellent racquetI have purchased the Babolat Pure Aero 2023 and the Head Extreme MP 2022. Although, both racquets have identical specification for the exception of the RA (Pure Aero 65, Extreme 66), the Pure Aero feels much more aero dynamic (cuts easier through the air) and thus plays easier and quicker than the Extreme especially as the match plays on longer. Was concerned with the Pure Aero's impact on my wrist and shoulder as Babolat's are known to be stiff, but it is not the case with this latest version of the Pure Aero. The Head Extreme MP 2022 is an excellent racquet, but I like the Pute Aero More. Both racquets are strung with the Solinco Hyper-G Soft 17 gauge at 52 lbs in the Pure Aero and at 53 lbs in the Extreme.

New Pure AeroLong time Pure Aero (Aero Pro) user. This is the fourth generation of this line of racquets I've played with. Compared to the 2019 model, the 2023 frame has a tad less power and spin but makes up for it with more control and more solid ball strikes when swinging fast and hard. I also find that backhand slices come off the string bed solidly and with more depth. Anyone making the switch from an older version should give this new frame a couple of weeks of play before making a decision on it. An advanced ball striker will appreciate the changes, especially with the tighter string bed. Serves about the same as the previous model. An intermediate player may be content with the older frame. My current favorite and arm friendly poly setup is with Solinco Hyper-G Soft 18g at 52 lbs (I restring every 2 weeks). Long time 4.0 player.

StiffnessI hope the stiffness doesn't continue to drop, it's a big part of what makes this racquet special.

Control and spin machine a great all aroundThis racket is really unmatched when it come to control and spin. It fits my playing style perfectly. I paired it with Hyper G Soft at 48lbs and the feel and ball pocketing feels like I can direct the ball in any direction while imparting a tremendous amount of spin diving into the court. The power is there but might have to swing harder but that's what I love about it. It gives you some help on not over hitting out of the back of the court. This racket thrives on volleys, big heavy spiny forehands, and huge overhead smashes. If you are a high octane player and athletic this racket will match your energy but on the other hand I feel this racket can be given to any player and it can be a starter racket or a pro racket it just fits all the categories. It just keeps getting better.

Great feel and balanceThis is my 2nd racket purchase (playing 2 yrs recreation league & clinics). It's an upgrade over Wilson Clash. I like having a bit more weight. It is great construction & beautiful design. When using the proper grip, my top spin has improved using the Babolat Pure Aero 2023. So glad I got it. It has been big aid for my volley game and serve. I would give higher grade once it I have more time playing with it. Nothing is perfect like every tennis match at my level.

Returning to TennisI played with the 2016 (I think?) Aero and then switched to the Aero Tour because of arm problems. I returned to tennis a few weeks ago and bought the new model. I love it. This model is much easier on the arm!

Pure Aero 2023Strung with Solinco Hyper-G @ 50lbs as I expected it to be stiffer compared to my previous clash 100 Pro with Confidential @54 lbs. Power & spin is noticeably better. With a few groundies sailing long, maybe adjusting up the Hyper-G to 54-56 maybe appropriate, but I have to weigh the pros & cons. Comfort & feel was above average though not as plush as the Clash. Great racquet for all court play but will need more tweaking for tension or changing the string to another poly.

Good racquet, but terrible quality controlI like this racquet. It is much more comfortable than the prior version. It has less power, and less spin, and a lower launch angle, which was fine for my game. The first racquet that I bought has a 332 SW, 332g strung, 4 pts HL, with over grip and dampener. The second racquet is 318 SW, 321g strung, 5 pts HL, with over grip and dampener. Both have the same strings. I have had the same issue with the prior version. There is a massive difference between how these two racquets play.

13 yo junior player loves itMy son switched from AeroTtour to this version after coach suggesting a lighter racquet. He said swings are smoother and more powerful with this. He used to use natural gut for the strings but it became too powerful on this racquet as he was too used to swinging hard with the heavier racquet. He switched to lower powered soft polys and is loving the extra control and spin.

2023 Pure AeroTried the new 2023 Pure Aero after playing 3 years with the 2019 version. Strung new racquet with RPM Blast 17g at 55 lbs. More muted feel with a little less power. Didn't like it at first. After a couple of weeks of playing with it, I really like it. Much more control, better feel on volleys, and I feel I can really swing out from the baseline. Compared to the previous version, rally balls with this racquet still have plenty of spin but have a little less shape. Little less stiff makes it easier on the arm. Overall, I think this is an improvement over the 2019 Pure Aero.

More pop and powerI demo'd this racquet twice with the default setup of hybrid: Babolat RPM main and Addixion cross with a high tension of 57 lbs. It would be best if the tension is 10 lbs lower. I can see this racquet with the great potential with the correct setup. Great spin & power, good feel, beautiful paint job, easy to play with and good handling… It could be the best racquet of the year for most people!

Major ChangeThis racquet has undergone a major change with a tighter string pattern and reduced stiffness. In spite of these changes, it can still create a good bit of spin. It offers the same weight and balance of the Pure Drive while significantly reducing the impact on my elbow.

Nice way to bring back the APD string patternBetter than the previous version by a long shot. To generate more topspin with this, swing inside out with a more flat trajectory. It's awesome.

Big change from the prior version.I am surprised how much Babolat changed this thing from the prior version. Mine came with a 327 swing weight which a bit high for me, but only weights 322 g strung with over grip and dampener. I can't get as much topspin as the prior version due to the tighter string pattern, but it is very soft feeling. Whatever was done for dampening really works, but they sacrificed feel. For those that don't like racquets with a muted feel, I would pass on this one. It has plenty of power and stability, but I think that comes from my heavier swing weight. I am going to need to try some different string combos to make it work.
