Overview

Wilson makes some impressive durability tweaks to their natural gut. The result is a slightly firmer feel, but make no mistake, this string offers truly outstanding comfort. This high quality natural gut uses only top quality beef serosa to produce a consistent and responsive string. It also delivers easy power along with better tension maintenance than any synthetic string on the market. If you are looking for ultimate feel and arm-safety, this is the perfect string. Strung as a full bed, this Wilson Natural Gut offers truly luxurious comfort. It will also add power and comfort to any hybrid.

Natural Gut =If you don't play with natural gut you don't know how tennis originally feels. Think about it

Excellent stringI normally play with a Volkl natural gut but received a purchased racquet that was accidentally strung with this Wilson natural gut. Initially irritated and almost had it replaced immediately but then decided to try it out. Very happy that I did. Strung at 54 in my Head Speed Pro, this string delivered everything I could ask for, power, control and gentleness on the arm. Have purchased more and for the time being, this string has become my go to string.

Gut stringsI strung two new sticks with Wilson's Natural Gut. Been playing with synthetic gut for the last five years. First time out, the difference in feel was instantly noticed. Ball stayed on the strings much longer. I had much more control for spin. I am very happy I tried these strings out. Will be playing with them going forward.

My 1st time w/natural gutHaving never used natural gut, I was really pleased with the performance I get versus syn gut or synthetic strings. I have great feel/control without giving up pace as I have strung my racquet on the low side of recommended. I don’t like the cost difference BUT I will be restringing my backup racquet with this as well. I didn’t want to like it so much but I did!!

Best string in the worldWho tries natural gut doesn't stay without it... Very soft, yet with awesome feel, and powerful... I use Wilson natural gut in the mains (52lbs), with Lynx Tour in the cross (50 pounds) in a Gravity Pro, and it's the best of the world... tons of power/spin/control.

Butter!!This stuff is great! Easy to string, doesn’t kink or fray at the ends. Put full bed in a Pro Staff 97 v11 at 60 pounds. Because it’s gut, plays smooth as butter with no jarring or harshness on contact. Can hit out with great control- serves, volleys, groundies all feel great with good pop. When I upgrade to the new PS 97 v14 the string will look great with those new brown and gold colors too!

Great playing and comfortExcellent comfort and cushion for wrists elbows and shoulders! Durability is what you are sacrificing, but if you need a soft, forgiving string, this can’t be beat. 35 Year USPTA Pro

Excellent gutLong time user of VS gut. Tried Wilson gut in a 17G on my c10 evo. Much easier to string than VS. It kinks less and holds together very well at the ends. No fraying whatsoever. Strung up as easy as a multi. It plays a tad firmer than VS so I dropped the tension by two pounds and I found that I liked it better than VS. Great power, control, comfort and excellent spin. Where I really loved it was on serve and on Volleys. Effortless power on serves. Great feel and comfort at the net. My new string of choice.

Better than BabolatThis sounds like heresy but Wilson 17g gut with its coating feels better, has better pocketing and is just as powerful as 17g Babolat VS. I think it's the better string.

Previous Feedback

Comments: I have been using Babolat VS Natural Gut 17 gauge and tried the Wilson Natural Gut 17. Very disappointing. Strung full bed and it is not as comfortable or powerful as VS. I actually prefer NXT. If you are going to spend the bucks for natural gut for a couple of bucks more get the VS.

Comments: I have bought this string several times and have been very happy with it. I bought 2 sets of it quite a few months ago, but didn't restring my racquets til end of July. Today, I broke a string and I usually get much more wear out of it. I'm a borderline 4.5 player ( sounds like you want to know that)- also it broke in a very weird place, by the bottom of the frame. My pro who also strings my racquets, said he thinks that package of string was defective. Just wanted to let you know in case you have received similar feedback on that lot of string.

Comments: Totally awesome string, especially in the 17 gauge version. Tried both as a standalone full bed on my Radical, and as a hybrid in combination with ALU Power Rough (RF setup). For me, it has every bit of power and comfort as a Babolat VS natural gut, maybe just a notch stiffer, but that's not an issue if you drop down the tension by one or two lbs. It has some kind of a special coating which makes it more durable than VS, which is good because it's possibly one of the most expensive strings on the market (but worth every dollar). Great string and one of the best natural guts out there.
From: Ulrich, 2/27/19

Comments: Compared to the previous Wilson Natural gut string, this version, though seems to last a bit longer, has less power and less tension retainability. It plays well when freshly strung, but looses tension rapidly thereafter. The previous version priced at nearly $55 competed head to head with the Babolat VS 17, albeit with a slightly softer feel. Whereas this latest version of Wilson gut is considerably cheaper, which might explain the above observations.
