Overview

Element 16L is a slightly thinner and softer version of one of the softest strings in Luxilon's line-up. With Element you'll get exceptional precision and spin without the high level of shock that comes with a traditional control string. Like its predecessors (M2 Pro and M2 Plus), Element features Multi-Mono Technology, providing you with a slightly more flexible feel than other Luxilon monofilaments. Although this string definitely works best if you have long, fast strokes, our playtest team was also impressed with its performance on touch shots (especially when compared to more traditional polyesters which tend to feel overly stiff and unresponsive at slow stroke speeds). All in all, this string is a great option for you intermediate through advanced players seeking a durable control string with above average feel and comfort. Dare we say that it is the missing element to your game?

Avoid wrist pains with ElementMy Pure Aero 2023 started giving me some wrist issues, that I wasn't experiencing with other racquets. Element was recommended online as a comfortable poly string for these kind of situations, and thought to give it a shot before downgrading to a hybrid. I strung it at 48 pounds and tested it for a single digit number of hours. I'm happy to report that I had no discomfort during or after playing. At the intermediate level the properties of the string (spin potential, control, etc) didn't feel that much different from other polys I've tested to really notice, but the comfort aspect definitely stood out. This string is likely a good hybrid candidate as well, to make stiffer setups feel less damaging.

The bestGood for old people. But I would use it even if I was young again. Plays like gut to me. Almost. Obviously not as good but I love it as my alternative to gut.

ExcellentFormer D3 level player, picked up racquet after 50 and couldn’t stand the old set up as in arm pain. Using this in a hybrid with the Velocity MLT and omg comfort, control and spin! Have it in an old Radical MP.

It does what it's designed to doThis is a very comfortable poly. I strung my Blade v8 18x20 with it looking for a poly option that would feel closer to a poly/multi hybrid. It does feel fairly similar but with much better control and a bit less ball pocketing. I strung one racquet at 50 and the other one at 48 pounds. For some reason the 48 pounds was giving me more vibration freshly strung. For spin, I would give it 5/10. With great technique maybe a 6/10. Overall it's a great string as most Luxilon strings. I can see why some people use it as a cross with a stiffer shaped poly on the mains.

One of the most comfortable poly stringsGreat comfort poly that works particularly well in dense string patterns. Normally Loses tension pretty quickly (like most soft polys), but the dense pattern helps stave this off and increase playability duration. Highly recommended for racquets like Head Speed Pro, Wilson Blade 18x20, and Yonex Percept 97D 18x20.

Not worth itArm-friendly? I guess. These strings lost all playability within two hours and turned into a trampoline of spaghetti. These strings have to be strung at least 3-6 lbs higher than my usual tension to get any use out of them, and they quickly lose tension, resulting in a springy string that can quickly become unplayable. Not recommended.

Excellent strings for my gameI really like this string. I have it in a new Pro Staff X 100 sq. in. I have the tension strung at 48. It generates a lot of power and spin. The color looks so good with this racquet. The strings snap back after impact and generates strong spin. I have two other and the latest, Wilson Clash racquets. The Pro Staff is just amazing. It is so strong and solid through the ball. The frame is not too soft. These two together (Element) make this my favorite racquet. I would try stringing lose and see how that goes. You get good action from the string and it gives you more power compared to if it was at 54 tension. Depends on your game but his is great for me. I am a HS tennis coach. Let's Go!

Comments: I am a 4.5 level player. Loved the comfort and power. Unfortunately the strings broke on only my fourth hit with them. Back to the ALU Power.
From:Dennis, 6/1/20

Comments: I strung this at my usual tension in a racquet with good control and it turned into a rocket launcher, uncontrollable. Played almost like a multifilament with too much power and comfort. It also had no snapback ability even when it was freshly strung. This might be good for people with arm and elbow problems, or a young junior wanting to transition into polyesters, but for players that like to use polyesters for the control aspect might want to stay away from this string.

Comments: I have used this string for mains, (with Volkl Powerfiber cross) crosses, (with Klip gut mains) and in a full bed. Like many others, I still ideally prefer ALU, but am nicer to my body these days. I also am a musician so avoid an arm beating when I can. I think this provides 80% of what I love in a poly (I've tried many) with far more comfort. I can also say this is by far my favorite poly for a full bed; pocketing, spin, and touch are all there. It does die a little quicker, but I string my own racquets so don't care. I only use it for mains (or full) in the summer on clay anyway. Perfect cross for gut.

Comments: I have tried every polyester string on the market, and this is just barely mediocre. I use a hybrid setup, strung pretty low, around 47 pounds, and I just cannot get a consistent feel from this string, sometimes it's explosive and soft like a Dunlop black widow without the shaping, other times it's tinny and dead like a pro hurricane tour. Now, both feelings have there benefits, however I look for consistency in my stringbed response, which I did not get with this string. Not sure if playing a full bed will change that but not going to risk the elbow issues (I have an extremely sensitive arm).Setup: Yonex VCCORE DUEL G310 (customized with weight in handle and hoop to 345g)Mains: element 16L 46 lbsCrosses: Genesis xplosion 16 49 lbs

Comments: I'm a 4.0 baseline and I'm using it as a main at 53 lbs in a PS97LS with Volkl Power Fiber 17 as the main. I really like it better than the same set up with 4G. Less power than with monogut as cross, but every ball stays in with Element and Power Fiber. Only played 1.5 hours, so it may not be completely settled yet. This will be my new setup. Using the 17g multi as the cross with require re-stringing every 10 to 12 hours, so I don't have to worry about tension loss. A top 100 16s boy tried my set-up and said no thanks. Big Banger all the way for him in his PS97LS. I will be switching my top 100 16s daughter to this in her PS97LS to reduce joint pain.

Comments: The control and predictability of this string is unmatched once the string bed settles. But not once but twice the string has lost tension and broke on me after about 10-20 hours of playing. Other than that, I love it but I'll probably switch to Hurricane or ALU Power Rough because I'm tired of restringing my racquets after just having them strung.
From:Taylor, 5/16

Comments: It doesn't give me the big kick and swerve that ALU Powerprovides, but it feels more predictable and controllable. No surprises, nice comfortable response, and good spin/power ratio. Pretty much remindsme of 4G, I don't know if I could even tell them apart from a performancestandpoint, anyway.
From:Cass, 3/16

Comments: Very good product, but really not much different to me than ALU Power or 4G. I string in the 45-55 lb range, and have never had any arm issues in 30+ years on the courts, so maybe the additional softness this string supposedly has isn't a big selling point for me. I will take the longer playability of ALU Power or 4G over this string's softer feel.
From:Brett, 3/16

Comments: Was not sold on this string after my first two hours. It felt under powered and boardy (even though I strung it at 48 lbs) and then the magic happened. The string bed settled in and I am in love. I use a PS 6.0 95 Original and I can crank every shot with power and control. And to think I was going to cut it out after the first 2 hours, so glad I didn't.. Give this string a shot.
From:Chris, 11/15

Comments: This string is not bad. However, I guess I was expecting something revolutionary which it is not. I tried this string since I normally like to use a full bed of Poly to see if it was easier on my arm with the same performance as a normal poly. Sadly, it was not. It is indeed softer, and it still has good bite and good control. Power would be average I would say. Other than that it's just barely average. When will a string manufacturer come out with a string that plays like a poly but feels like a gut? Technifibre X-One Biphase 18g is by far the best compromise. If the Technifibre 18G did not break on me in 1.5 hours, I'd exclusively use that as a hybrid in the mains, with Babolat Hurricane Tour 17g in the crosses which is the ultimate string setup I have tried. I think I have tried all the popular strings at one point or another. I play in the open division.

Comments: Have gone through about 30 sets of Solinco Tour Bite Soft on the Wilson Pro Staff 95S at 53 lbs. However, I was needing something more durable so I gave Luxilon Element a try. Although considered to be a softer poly, it is very firm and super low powered. Moves around way too much and tension maintenance is virtually non existant. After 30-45 mins after hitting, the stings turned to spaghetti and loose all feel. Just my two cents. Wish they made a Sour Bite Soft in 15 gauge.

Comments: I used this in a hybrid, replacing my go to setup being mains with Yonex Poly Tour Pro 125/crosses with Technifibre X-One Bi-Phase 17g at 53/56 lbs in my 2015 Wilson Blade 98 18x20 which has been modified to 12 ounces headlight balance. Element, to me, played pretty close to the Yonex with maybe a touch more power and pop. But being freshly strung stand to reason. I've played 12 sets with this so far and it settled in nicely, still maintaining good tension and feel, pop and control. Will I switch from my go to Yonex PTP? Well at about $5.50 /set cheaper it will probably win out. Sorry I couldn't give a full bed opinion, but my elbow says no to full beds the past year. I'm a USTA 4.0 level player.

Comments: Best string I have used. Outstanding balance of power, comfort, spin and control. It is by far the most arm friendly polyester I have used.
