Overview

Volkl V-Star is one of the most comfortable co-polys available. This string is a great option for the player who wants the spin and durability benefits of a poly-based string but not the high stiffness and off-center shock for which the breed is known. V-Star also has above average power for a control string. All in all this is a great option for the player transitioning into a poly-based monofilament. It's also ideal for all those poly veterans who want to give their tendons a very smooth ride.

Try this thin gauge for more spin and feel, but slightly less durability than the thicker gauges.

  • Gauge: 18/1.15mm
  • Length: 40ft/12m
  • Composition Co-polyester Monofilament
  • Colors: Silver

Sleeper Round PolyAfter a few years of hybrid setups, I decided to go with a full bed of poly a few months ago. Looking for a soft round string I researched just that on the Tennis Warehouse University website and decided on the Volkl V-Star 18L. Extremely satisfied with this choice, and it's holding tension better than expected after a very brief break in period. It is extremely comfortable with good pocketing and spin when I need it. Super value at the price, strung in my Yonex Ezone 105 at 50 pounds in the mains and 52 pounds for the crosses. Thinking of going down two or three pounds when I need to replace them. Don't need to spend money on overpriced strings that are too stiff in general for recreational players. Might even try the V-Star 19 gauge in the mains and my current 18L in the crosses for a little more spin and an even softer feel.

Nice FeelI used 18L gauge Volkl V-Star poly in the crosses at 46 lbs to compliment a 15 gauge poly string I used in the mains at 48 lbs. The 15's bite the ball well creating spin and the 18's stay out of the way, pocket and increase feel. No arm issues (yet) with either of these poly strings.
