Junior HP player likes itMy 13yo (small for age) son plays 3-5 times a week. He also uses Babolat Touch VS 17 (tension 50) but recently we noticed the string starts to fray more easily as he develops into a stronger player. To save money, instead of moving to a thicker string, I decided to let him try this one which is $20 cheaper. It arrived in a ziplock bag from TW instead of original packaging for some reason. But anyway, we got his racquet strung (tension 52) with this and after a few plays, he decided that he prefers the feel of this over the VS. After at least 2 weeks HP tennis camps, there is still no obvious sign of fraying. That's a relief for my wallet! After doing a ton of research, we decided to keep him on natural gut for as long as possible to prevent future elbow issues and also we believe that in the long run, natural gut helps him to develop his tennis skills better without assistance of modern string technology. Also, natural gut tends to retain its tension better so you don't have to change until it breaks.

Good StuffI am a former poly player, but got tired of restringing every few weeks. This gut lasts a while before breaking. The longest I have gone is 10 weeks before breaking. At nine weeks, there was only some minor tension loss. Yes the string is more expensive, but you save a lot in stringer bills. The negatives - it does not spin the ball as well for top spin. But the feel is so great I do not care. It has been years since I used gut... so long I have forgotten how good it feels.

Comments: Very good string. First time playing with it. I play with a 105" Dunlop 300G. Playing with a gut/poly hybrid, I have to string this stuff quite tight in order to avoid launching the ball. I string the gut mains at 67 lbs and the poly at 57 lbs. Sure the black color wears off but who cares. Following my first four weeks with this setup the poly began to stretch out too much. I put my frame on my machine, clamped it down, and carefully extracted the poly out and put a new poly in. The gut strings are going on six weeks old and there has been almost no reduction in tension following the initial loss at the outset. This stuff plays fantastic. Lots of pop. No movement. Plenty of spin with the poly cross. My arm feels so much better than when I played only with a full bed of poly. I'm never going back to full poly.

Comments: Here's my experience with Tour version of Legend, compared to Legend itself. Out of the package, it has a very high quality feel to it. Slick and smooth. While stringing it stretched very little. Tension maintenance is more consistent than legend. Power level is a notch higher so for me = +2 lbs. Feel is much softer/muted which makes Legend feel crisp/firm. Durability thus far has been spectacular. But as others have mentioned the color coating does wear off and shows you your strike pattern. This one is unique to me. It doesn't work for me as a main as it launches balls if the tension isn't perfect. It does work great as a cross which is how I use it now. However, for flat hitters this could be really nice.

Comments: I've played with Babolat VS Touch and I've played with Klip Legend 17. In my opinion this Klip Legend 17 is just as good as Babolat VS Touch. For control (not having the balls sail long) I have to say Klip Legend is better than VS. For touch like dropshots, I'd give VS the advantage over Legend. My setup is a Wilson Prostaff 6.0 85 with tension at 66 pounds and a full bed of natural gut. I use string savers as well and I have been playing with the same full bed of Klip Legend 17g for over 3 weeks now. There's some fraying happening now, but the tension is holding nicely. I imagine my tension has now dropped to about 62 pounds which is still really good for tension maintenance! If you are a topspin heavy player, you could still likely use this string but in a hybrid setup with poly. If you are an old school hitter like me who loves to hit flat and play majority of the time on hard courts, go with a full bed of natural gut! There's nothing out there that comapres to the feel of a full bed of natural gut. Not even the best multifilaments like NXT which I have also played with. I also use baby oil to keep my gut strings from drying out. I dab the strings with baby oil before everytime I play.

Comments: The black coating wears off immediately and shows the light yellow/brown (natural) color of the string.

Comments: KLIP Legend Tour sets the standard for natural gut in terms of the price to performance ratio. Excellent playability, comfort, power, and control while the dual coating makes it ideal for hybrid string jobs and offer good durability. My first set mixed with MSV Co-Focus 18g poly in the crosses lasted over 50 hours without breaking with very little drop in performance (and showed only moderate notching at that point). A great combination of performance and value.
