Helpful customer serviceThe ordering was simple and the shipment was on time. For this order in particular, TW customer service was helpful and good to work with for strings damaged during shipment. The agent I worked with was understanding and arranged replacement of the damaged strings. I'm appreciative to TW standing behind their shipment process.

GREAT STRINGBeen looking for a replacement string for my trusty Volkl Cyclone and Solinco Hyper-G, both great strings in my opinion. I was just looking for something new. Took a flyer on this and it turns out to be a great decision, it is now my favorite poly string. It holds tension well, it has been in for two weeks and it still plays consistent. I feel it is pretty arm-friendly and the spin is insane but you can still flatten out a ball with control. I have it strung at 55 pounds in a Yonex 100D. One thing, it seems to be very thick for 17 gauge

Underrated control, massive spinAs someone who uses hybrids and spin oriented strings extensively (ex. Luxilon ALU Power, Head Lynx Tour, Head Sonic Edge Pro, etc.) - I ordered a whole reel after trying the black version of the WCUC. I used it for the mains and strung Golden Set Power Cord 16g for the crosses (a smooth poly) at 50 lbs, and the result was the best control I've had. Few errors and massive spin resulted, and I eerily felt that this was better than my Luxilon/Sonic Edge hybrid which I hold in high regard/the best hybrid I've used until now. I ordered the yellow version, and hopefully it's the same as the black (given there are slight variations in color), but from the baseline, this strung is unbeatable in my Prince Phantom Pro 100. I used a western/semi-western and have a one handed backhand with a 4.5 NTRP - I can see this string complementing my game very well and taking me to that next level.

A very good string! This Weiss string offers excellent spin and feel. I think it works best in stiff power racquets. It tempers the power potential of a racquet, improves control, and helps a lot with touch shots. It maintains tension well and wears well.

Perfect Match For My RFA v14First... Tennis Warehouse is superb. Solid pricing, fair reviews, and amazingly fast shipping. The Ultra Cable is so comfortable and of course, the bite on the ball is unmatched. It's probably my imagination, but the yellow version plays softer than the black or white. With this string, I can often land drop shots that spin back onto my side of the court and kick serves are a dream. Give 'em a shot... their durability is a bonus. I go 38 pounds with no sacrifice in control.

Great edge! This string is great for hitting the ball with spin. The edge is nice and sharp and grips the ball to maximize spin. The edge does get dull more quickly though so keep an extra package on hand.

The Best string everAs an avid tennis player, I've had the pleasure of testing various strings over the years, and the Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable 17/1.23 String White stands out as a top contender in its category. Here's why: Durability and Longevity One of the most impressive aspects of the Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable is its durability. The 1.23mm gauge strikes a perfect balance, offering enough thickness to withstand aggressive play while maintaining a level of finesse for those delicate shots. After several intense matches and practice sessions, the string showed minimal signs of wear, which is a testament to its robust construction. Spin Potential If you’re a player who relies heavily on spin, this string will not disappoint. The unique ultra cable design enhances the ball's grip, allowing for exceptional spin generation. Whether it's heavy topspin forehands or slicing backhands, the Ultra Cable delivers consistent performance, enabling players to impart maximum spin with ease. Control and Precision Control is crucial for any tennis player, and this string excels in that department. The Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable offers a remarkable level of control, giving players the confidence to place their shots exactly where they intend. This precision is especially noticeable on volleys and drop shots, where the string's responsiveness ensures that the ball lands softly and accurately. Comfort and Feel Despite its firm construction, the Ultra Cable provides a comfortable playing experience. The string’s ability to absorb shock reduces the impact on the arm, making it a great choice for players prone to tennis elbow or other arm issues. The feel is crisp yet not overly harsh, which is ideal for those who appreciate a direct connection with the ball. Tension Maintenance Tension maintenance is another strong point of the Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable. Throughout extended play, the string maintains its tension remarkably well, ensuring consistent performance over time. This stability helps in keeping the playability and feel consistent, match after match. Aesthetics While performance is paramount, aesthetics also play a role in the overall satisfaction with a string. The Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable in white has a clean, classic look that complements any racquet. Its appearance stays relatively new even after prolonged use, adding to the overall appeal. Conclusion In summary, the Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable 17/1.23 String White is an exceptional choice for players seeking durability, spin potential, control, and comfort. Its ability to maintain tension and provide a consistent playing experience makes it a reliable option for both competitive and recreational players. If you're looking to enhance your game with a high-quality string, the Weiss CANNON Ultra Cable is definitely worth considering.

Eric/Ex ProThese poly strings have superior dwell time for both control and spin. A bit on the low power scale, helps you to swing out. Tension loss is pretty good since the strings are pre-tensioned by the manufacturer. I like to string these a couple of pounds over my usual tension of 50 pounds. The tension then settles in around 48 pounds, and the performance actually seems to improve after about two hours of hitting.

Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable 17A firm stiffer string that has terrific spin for both topspin and slice. It is a little tough on the shoulder, elbow or wrist, if you have issues! Durability is good and again the spin control is superior! I would highly recommend this string!

Old style playerI’m a 4.5 player with a relatively flat forehand and a slice backhand. I used 52 pounds tension (23.5 kgs) for this 17g yellow Ultra Cable string. My slice serves are very responsive. I find my hard Eastern forehand ball stays in bounds more often with this string and my slice backhand and backhand drop shot on clay are incredible if I have to say so myself. :o) Two of my friends with similar skills have changed to this string and they also love it. I bought a 660 foot reel and stringing with one string 38.5’ long per racquet I expect to get 17 racquet strings which calculates to less than $9 per racquet. I use the Babolat Z-O5 Drive that has a 16 x 20 grid. Great great string but it take’s getting use to. If you are unsure of using this “dead” string (you have to generate the power with this string) I can also recommend a more lively spin polyester, Hyper-G Heaven Strings, 17 gauge.

Racquet Dependent ResultsI've had a reel of Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable for a few years now, and have tried it on several different racquets. I didn't like it in most of them for one reason or another. For example, in a Pure Aero it was a bit hash in the low 50lb range, and lacking feel in the low to mid 40lb range. At lower tension it played okay initially, but quickly seemed to lose tension. When I tried it in a Prestige Pro (95in), it was great at 45lbs, but I hated the yellow color in that red racquet, so I didn't wait to see how long it would last! Most recently I'm using a Dunlop CS 200 OS, weighted to be close to the Prestige. Ultra Cable at 50lbs works great in this racquet, with great control, spin, and nice crisp feedback without being harsh. It's also great on serves, although a little down on power. The only thing unknown is how long it will remain playable. So the bottom line for me is that the results depend on what racquet and the string tension. Everyone has their own ideal setup, so it takes a bit of experimentation to find the right combo.

Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable, 1.23 mm has significant friction potential with the string to the tennis ball interaction. Referencing the gauge and using digital calipers, I measured Ultra Cable to be approximately 1.23 mm from one flat side to the opposite flat side. Diagonal measurements from the corner edge of the four sided shape to the opposing corner can measure greater than 1.5 mm leading to additional mass. The weight measured of a set of Ultra Cable is 23.2 g and Weiss Cannon Black5Edge 1.24 mm is 21.9g. From the TW Learning Center, Ultra Cable has a tension loss percentage greater than and energy return percentage less than Black5Edge for comparison. Play testing, Ultra Cable excels on volleys especially low volleys do the increased launch angles, soft string bed, and additional friction. Groundstrokes and serve returns produce a less powered response. Spin serves are natural and easy, while flat serves produce a less powered response. Enjoy and best in hitting. Comments: I'm a 55+ 4.0 and my favorite/most-used stroke is the forehand topspin, so it makes sense that I look for top-spinny strings. Since I own a stringing machine, I am able to try a cache of hybrid combinations, but I find myself coming back to Ultra Cable. (I only do hybrid setups using the poly in the crosses most of the time.) My favorite polys I've tried are: Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable, Volkl Cyclone Tour, Luxilon ALU Power Rough and Solinco Tour Bite. Keep in mind that I'm an amateur and probably don't hit the ball well most of the time, but when I connect in the sweet spot with a smooth stroke, I feel like my opponents/practice partners tell me the ball kicks up when using a racquet strung with the Ultra Cable. Does it matter which synthetic string I use in the hybrid? I can't honestly say I notice a difference, but here are some I've tried: Gosen OG-Sheep, Technifibre X-One Biphase, and Wilson NXT. Thanks to the testers at Tennis Warehouse and for their honest opinions and facts which helped me get to my ideal setup. Specifications: Yonex EZone 100+ (stock and have another balanced racquet), mains: Gosen OG-Sheep Micro 16 or Technifibre X-One Biphase at 52 lbs, crosses: Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable 1.23 at 49 lbs.

Comments: I test a ton of strings to pair with my VS Gut mains and Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable is quite unique in that it's got that extremely sharp edge but doesn't cut threw the gut, I mean sure there is a tiny bit of shaving but over all practically unnoticeable. It's so low powered the tension drop does nothing more than add pocketing. It turned my 18x20 Ultra Tour into the kind of spin you'd expect out of a 16x19. I have paired harder less edged polys with my gut and it cuts right through in a couple weeks if that. Sharp, soft, low powered and easy on gut. 5 STARS.

Comments: Cartoonish level of topspin. Just had this put in a Prince Phantom Pro 93P 14x18 at 48 pounds. Big block engines of the 60s didn't generate this much twist. If you're looking for something that will dive bomb inside the baseline and kick up over your opponents, give this a try. If you want a slice serve that bends like a frisbee into the side curtain this is for you. Anyway, I've heard it's a pain to string up, but first impressions couldn't be better.

Comments: I'm a 58 year old 4.0 aggressive all-court player. I set out about 4 years ago to add more topspin to my groundstrokes and to add some kick and slice to my serves. In addition to changing the mechanics of my grips and swings, I also bought the most spin-friendly gear I could find. After trying several racquets, I settled on the Wilson Steam 99S and bought several frames as they went out of production. I bought a stringer and experimented with all kinds of string setups before I found my sweetspot with Volkl Cyclone 16 gauge at 48 pounds. Then I read the TW review of the Ultra Cable 17 and I just had to have it. It delivered as promised in the spin department, I could really rip the ball when my timing was dialed in, but was disappointed with the feel and never quite felt connected to the ball. I went down as low as 43 pounds and the feel improved a bit, but at that tension I lost even more control and my aggressive strokes became increasingly inconsistent. I went back to the Cyclone and couldn't be happier. Verdict is 5 out of a possible 10. Massive spin as promised, but for me, lacking in feel and control.

Comments: I've been on a long journey to find a great string for years now. I've tried dozens of strings, tensions, and hybrids. I've always came back to this string. It generates a ton of spin. I string my custom Head Graphene Speed Pro at 54-55 pounds and I can absolutely club the ball. I get plenty of feel and control without sacrificing comfort. It's amazing fresh off the stringer and continues into the second week. I've noticed it does start to go bad after a few weeks with a "plastic" feel. I've never been able to break it and always find myself cutting it out. Even though most people like to string polys low, I actually prefer to string this a little tighter. It's nice to have a safety net that allows you to swing as hard as you want.
From:Sean, 4/10/19

Comments: Love this string. Playing with it in a Babolat Pure Aero. I switched to this racquet and string from a 90 square inch Pro Staff when I turned 40 to magnify the parts of my game that worked to my advantage. I hit a really heavy ball, and a huge kick serve. I got at least another 18" of hop off the kick serve, and I can swing big with the forehand with the ball making a sharp dive at the baseline. I string this at 49 pounds with this setup, and am really happy. Once I'm warmed up, and am timing the ball well, and have full control of it I tend to switch down to a racquet strung at 43 pounds to get a bit more pop to it. Word of caution, it does lose its edges, and the string rounds out a bit over time. Freshly strung this string is a beast in this setup. Super happy with it.
From:Nate, 4/9/19

Comments: "Getcha Spin On" That should be the name for this string. It's low powered response along with its four sharp edges allows you to swing for the fences. The balls that look like they're going to sail long end up taking a nose dive and drop on the baseline. Definite thumbs up.
From:Eric, 3/20/19

Comments: You name it, I have tried it! As far as poly strings go, this is the best in all parameters! Spin, control, comfort, cost, durability, cosmetic if you wish. One criticism is that I wish they would make a thinner gauge. Even the 17 is not that thin. It does add weight to the racquet, but overall great top of the line string.
From:Joseph, 3/9/19

Comments: Update from my 8/25 review. After breaking all my strings, I used this again tonight in a singles match against a heavy hitter instead of playing my regular doubles match. This is where the string shined. So I am definitely thinking this is an awesome string. Thanks TW for recommending it!
From:Joe, 10/23/18

Comments: I found this string to be very inconsistent. At times, it grabbed the ball like crazy -- so much spin that the ball was visibly flattened out while spinning and my opponent was caught off guard. Other times, the spin just wasn't there, and I was launching balls long as a result. I also found this to be a very soft poly, which is nice on the arm, but resulted in less control generally. I might give it another try in a hybrid. In a full bed, I just couldn't find the consistency I need.
From:Chris, 10/5/18

Comments: Terrible string. Overhyped on talk tennis and string reviews. No better than the 7.99 Volkl Cyclone 16g. Spin was so so. Control was low. Feel was ok. Power was ok. I am sorry but this thing isn't worth more than 8. Spin is really disappointing.
From:Joe, 8/25/18

Comments: Very disappointed with this string. Compared to my regular set up Volkl Cyclone 18, this Ultra Cable string is lower power, stiffer, no easy spin, can't grab the ball. The only benefit of this string compared to Cyclone is the tension stability is good. This string has even less power and less spin than other set up of mine: Silverstring 1.20.
From:Mike, 8/7/18

Comments: I agree on all- great spin, great control, low power. I am a 5.0 player and was able to take big cuts on the ball. I strung it at 50 lbs, putting in the mains of my Wilson Ultra Tour with Babolat Excel in the crosses. Was a little hard on the arm, I might need to come down to 45 lbs to ease up on my arm. Also, this is a lot thicker in gauge than a standard 17 gauge.
From:Jim, 7/21/18

Comments: I last commented on 3/17. I changed from DR98 to PD tour. I also went to full bed of Ultra Cable and wow. I believe I have finally found the match. I am at 44 lbs in the mains, 45 lbs in the crosses. My regular hitting partners are telling me I am hitting with more power, more consistency and higher percentage of 1st serves in, and more spin and power on 2nd serve. I still struggle with mid court volleys but at 62 years old, my footwork isn't what it used to be. I have great control, feeling and balls are dropping in deep. Great string for me!
From:Clinton, 6/12/18

Comments: I'm a 4.5 all court senior player. I absolutely love this string! For me, it's far better than Cyclone, Hyper G or Pro Supex Big Ace. I use it in my 2013 APD, at 43 lbs and after playing for hours, I feel absolutely nothing. By far, the most comfortable poly I've played with, in addition to having all of the control and spin you use polys for. About to order some more now. One thing to note -- it's far thicker than the gauge indicates.
From:Anonymous, 5/19/18

Comments: I am a 70 year old, 4.0 player and have tried many strings over the years. I totally love this Weiss Cannon Cable 17, strung it at 45 lbs on my Yonex DR 98. These stings are perfect for me -- spin and power are all there.
From:Andrew, 2/21/18

Comments: I'm a 5.0 senior with multiple national titles. Have tried Revolution, Hyper-G, Ytex, Cyclone, RPM -- this one is a keeper. Don't be afraid to string it low -- in the 40s. What do Jack Sock and the Bryan Brothers know that you don't about stringing polys low? Combined with a frame like Pure Aero family, and nothing else will spin better. Tension maintenance as good as any other poly for me. Go to the TW Learning Center to find out more about this string.
From:John, 11/22/17

Comments: Awesome, perfect string! String feels like it is 1.25 than 1.23. Durablity is insanely good. Spin and precision wise -- it is terrific. Really lots and lots of easy access to spin. Power is decent for a poly and tension maintenence is good. The only downside is comfort, you need a good dampener for this because the string is hollow and stiff (crisp). Recommend stringing it low -- like 50 lbs on the Pure Aero. The color is pretty too.
From:J, 10/20/17

Comments: This string plays similar to Volkl Cyclone yellow 1.25. Ultra Cable just edges it on spin. Though Cyclone offers a bit more power for me. Strung in the Babolat Pure Strike 100 16x19 at 55 lbs
From:Joseph, 8/16/17

Comments: I was really excited to try this string. Put it in a Pure Aero Lite at 46 lbs and a Head Touch Speed S at 45 lbs. I'm not sure what all the hype is about because these strings are exactly how Chris (below) described them. They are like weed wacker strings and play like them too. They certainly are not 1.23mm either. They are closer to 1.30+. The feel is very stiff and I could feel the shock going up my arm on both racquets. The spin was near identical to Cyclone Tour 17-18. This string has a very hard feeling and within ten minutes, I felt pain in my shoulder and arm. I cut them out immediately and stuck in Cyclone Tour 17 at 52 lbs. Viola! I guess I prefer a polys that are on the soft side. I can't give a recommendation for this string at all. On a side note, I also had a few people at the club try the racquets out and everyone pretty much agreed on the same thing. Stiff, dull, high spin, but not any better than other spin friendly polys. I would look at other strings before buying this stuff. Cyclone, Cyclone Tour, Dunlop Black Widow, are all better in my opinion.
From:Doug, 6/15/17

Comments: This is my new go-to string. Strung my Tecnifibre 315 T-fight (98) with WCUC 48 lbs in the mains and Gosen syn gut at 48 lbs in the crosses. Spin potential is as good as Diadem Solstice Power. Even after 4 hours of match play, I can still feel its bite. Power level is low to medium. It feels very lively at 48 lbs, and I can feel the ball pocketing better than most of other polys. One minor thing I noticed is that the thickness (gauge) is uneven at some points. The clamp of my string machine felt very slightly too tight or loose at different parts of the string. It may be because the string shape is not perfectly square but rather rectangular. Still not an issue. Will get a reel.
From:Matt, 3/20/17

Comments: I am over 60 years old and a 4.5 player and am having to rely more on the racquet and strings to keep me competitive . Have had shoulder and tennis elbow issues. After testing 90% of all poly-co-poly strings available to humans both full bed and hybrid I found WCUC and strung it in my DR98 hybriding the mains with synthetic gut ay 52 lbs and WCUC crosses at 45 lbs -- I've been using it for 6 months now. Meets all my objectives of power, control, spin and comfort. I will be buying the reel of WCUC to commit to this string. I tried Blue Rock and gained a bit of sin but lost the comfort. Ultra Cable is outstanding for me.
From:Clinton, 3/6/17
Note from TW: We're glad you are enjoying Ultra Cable, Clinton -- it's one of our favorites as well! However, I do want to mention, we don't recommend leaving polys in your racquet for too long as they can go dead and cause arm discomfort. Just something to be aware of since you mentioned you have had arm issues in the past. TW Staff

Comments: No feel and quite stiff, but the square pattern gives noticeably more spin than even pentagonal patterns. I hit hard loopy shots from the baseline and this string fits my game quite well.
From:Devin, 1/17

Comments: Looks way thicker than 1.23. More like 1.30. I was reminded of the stuff in my Weed Wacker and that's what it played like -- kind of a dulled sensation, almost soggy. Cutting it out tomorrow.
From:Chris, 12/16

Comments: Broke my Tour Bite string after 6 months and wanted to try this one for the spin. Put it in my Textreme 100P at 52 lbs. On serve, I get extra spin if I relax and dip the racquet. On groundstrokes, I'll get extra spin if I hold my racquet with the right grip, drop the racquet and then aim the ball. So is there extra spin? Most definitely if and only if the form is right. Control is there, no surprise on any shots so far. Overall, it helps my second serve mostly so far. Will update when the string looses tension. Really interested in how good it holds tension (compared to Kirschbaum).
From:Anthony, 12/16

Comments: Hidden gem. The unique content, feel, spin potential and balance of this string is spot on. Weiss Canon just does something special in there process that separates themselves for the rest. Also how lucky are we to have TW give us such a wide variety of just stellar strings. If you can't find the right string for you here, you need help. Also you can always buy a few different sets and start the process of creating your own hybrid setup. The possibilities now grow even greater. Key is to have fun, do your homework, be open minded, logical and creative. Alas TW is there to help you -- they are the tops in tine industry, don't be shy and be ready to try. Cheers.

Comments: Perfect string. Avoid higher tensions with this one. Unreal spin, control, and comfort at 40 lbs on a Wilson Burn FST 99S. Just FYI to Andrew (a few comments below) -- the one time I tried Prince Tour XC crosses, it lost its elasticity after just one hour of play.
From:Srikanth, 10/16

Comments: I've used this string in a full bed at 55 lbs in my Yonex VCore Tour F 93. I hit with it at 3 months and I can say that its a very unique string. First off, it never notches, even after 3 months of heavy hitting 20+ hours a week, letting me access that huge snapback for insane levels of spin. I'm a 4.0 player that has a strong all court game. The tension died after 3 weeks, but didn't change much for me so I kept it in my racquet. Eventually I hit the edges of the string into a round shape so I cut them out. I recommended this to some friends and strung it in their racquets and they only have good things to say. Unfortunately, I have found a better alternative in Solinco Hyper G (1.25mm). If you want a string that makes you a spin monster and doesn't break, this is the string for you.
From:Thomas, 9/16

Comments: I used Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable in a Yonex Ai100 at 51 lbs. This string played phenomenal when it was fresh. It performs as I would expect from a sharp poly with great control, spin on demand, and confident high swing speeds. My stringer saw it for the first time and commented how sharp at was. It ripped and sprayed felt off of Penn pressureless used with my ball machine. Topspin serves were rotating like cray and accurate. Opponents commented on the kick and slice action on serves were hard to handle and keep in play. I was surprised that it was predictable and responsive at the net. I wish this string would stay fresh longer. I got 2 matches and 4 practice sessions in before tension loss began to frustrate. When tension loss started, it went really fast. I hit a few flat serve bombs and overheads during a match and the string bed lost responsiveness right away. I thought I broke a string several times, but the string bed looked fine. I would stop my search for a go to string had this lasted longer. If you are in search of a spin generator with great control and ok to restring every 12 hours of court time, consider giving Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable a try. I am a 4.0 baseline player who hits heavy topspin on my forehand and topspin on all serves.
From:Craig, 6/16

Comments: I put them in a Prince 98 Tour ESP (16x14 spin stick/sick spin stick), at 55 lbs in the mains and 53 lbs in the crosses. The recommeded Prince XC 15L poly and a Luxilon Alu Power 1.25 both work fine in this racquet, but this one tops them both. It has both more top and slice, and I find the string bed much more controlled with this slightly stiffer string. I can not only load the ball with spin energy, I can use spin to place the ball. Short cross court balls are simply ridiculous, and spin serves leave opponents speechless (I play a bunch of 50+ guys who are used to fast flat serves, which they simply chip back, but are quite helpless, when the ball sprays off their low weight stiff sticks in different directions). The string is not harsh or uncomfortable at all, but the soft racquet (stiffness 60) may add to that. My next string job will be the Prince XC crosses and these in the mains.
From:Andrew, 5/16

Comments: Very unique co-poly string. Really good spin and feel. This is definitely a string worth trying for any advanced player.
From:MPillai, 4/16

Comments: Ultra Cable is touted as the new spin oriented string from Weiss Cannon and it delivers in that regard, but only to a point. The downside of such a spin demon string which is also down the softer end of the range is that it suffers quite badly from tension loss. If you don't mind tension loss then Ultra Cable is fine for you. But if you want a more consistent and longer playing lifespan out of your strings then it is not what you're after. Weiss Cannon's Black 5 Edge string still tops this as an all-round spin oriented poly mainly because it has much better tension maintenance.
