Johnny Mac Tennis Project

Changing lives by removing racial and economic barriers
Changing lives by removing racial and economic barriers
The Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP) changes young lives by removing the racial, economic and social barriers to success through tennis. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by tennis legend John McEnroe and others, JMTP introduces the sport of tennis as a life-long health, fitness and social activity to thousands of under-resourced New York City area children. For a smaller group of dedicated young athletes, JMTP provides a pathway to success through competitive tennis, leading to college scholarships, careers in the industry, and, for a few, professional tennis careers and, perhaps, Grand Slam titles.

Inspiring and enhancing lives through tennis
Inspiring and enhancing lives through tennis
Inspired by an unsung champion, the Richard Pancho Gonzalez Youth Tennis Foundation was formed by his family after his passing to honor his legacy and inspire underprivileged children to dream big and break barriers on and off the court. One of the group's primary goals is to share Pancho's passion, perseverance and accomplishment to invigorate the youth of today. Pancho's story of overcoming adversity, even as a top tennis player, remains an inspiration and encourages these players to live a fulfilling life by pursuing their goals and dreams no matter their background.

Changing lives through the power of tennis
Changing lives through the power of tennis
Located in South Central Los Angeles, this program is dedicated to enriching the lives of children by providing free tennis, mentoring and education in a safe and positive environment. Marty Woods founded this program in 2009 in memory of his coach and mentor, Pete Brown. This program promotes junior tennis as a platform for character development, physical fitness and lifetime achievement with a focus on the importance of character, integrity and sportsmanship -- all ideals that were critically important to Mr. Pete Brown and his family.

La Constance Tennis in Africa

Founded in 2014 in Akropong, Ghana, by Dr. Alex Boafo, the La Constance Tennis Center uses the sport of tennis as a medium to teach discipline, education, social interaction and leadership. Dr. Boafo named the program after his mother to share the legacy of the strong, generous woman who raised him. This program makes tennis available to young players who would otherwise never know this sport that he loves. Dr. Boafo knows the positive role sports can play in a child's life and hopes this program can help these kids dream big.

Tennis in Cambodia

Having fallen in love with Siem Reap on a vacation, Greg James quickly noticed one thing missing from the small town he became enamored with: tennis. Quickly making contacts, he began a grassroots youth tennis program and began doing all he could to spread the sport and knowledge of tennis to the youth of Cambodia. In doing so, he has helped break the norm and is teaching kids to dream big. And maybe, just maybe his efforts will help create a tennis champion in this region that once never knew how to play this sport.

15-LOVE Charity

What was merely a dream in 1990, the 15-LOVE Program now has 30-plus years of experience under its belt of reaching out in a positive way to the inner-city youth in the NY Capital Region. With love and care, they use tennis as their medium and also focus on literacy, heathful living, college prep and more. The late Arthur Ashe was instrumental in helping create this program, and his philosophy reigns true today: Use tennis to teach the game of life. It runs year-round and reaches more than 50,000 kids and their families.
